    The Highlands and Islands Thread

Had a good couple of days in the Cairngorms, starting with a trip to Findhorn Valley where I had good views of a Golden Eagle amongst many Red Kites, Buzzards and Kestrels. However, the highlight was an Osprey fishing along the river right next to the road giving brilliant views. Also saw a few...

    The Highlands and Islands Thread

Hi all, I'm heading to Highlands tomorrow staying Nethy Bridge for four nights and Braemar for three nights. Anyone got any suggestions on where to go in these areas at this time of the year? Hoping to see the usual Scottish specialties such as Crested Tit, Ptarmigan, Golden Eagle, Snow Bunting...

Winter trip - Cirl bunting, Bewick swan, firecrest?

I'm not a local but from my experiences from visiting the South West, Labrador Bay near Torquay is a great place to see Cirl Bunting. I've visited in the winter and seen large flocks of them feeding on the stubble fields. For Bewick's, Slimbridge is the place to go, though not technically in the...

    Norfolk birding

I'm making a first ever visit to Norfolk on Friday with the intention of visiting Titchwell, Snettisham and other places in the area. Looking at the high tides, they aren't the highest but will the Waders be easily viewable despite this? Hoping to see Grey Plover, Sanderling and Bar Tailed Godwit..

Saw a Red Kite getting mobbed by Crows as I drove along the coast road just after the Talacre roundabout. First I've seen around here for years.

    NE Wales birdingwatching

The area Ivan describes is the right place, it took me a while to find it last week but I eventually found it when it appeared on the sea wall with a few Linnets before flying onto the beach. Just look for Linnets and you should hopefully find the Twite mingling with them :t: In other news a...
