The Highlands and Islands Thread
Had a good couple of days in the Cairngorms, starting with a trip to Findhorn Valley where I had good views of a Golden Eagle amongst many Red Kites, Buzzards and Kestrels. Winter trip - Cirl bunting, Bewick swan, firecrest?
I'm not a local but from my experiences from visiting the South West, Labrador Bay near Torquay is a great place to see Cirl Bunting. Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast
Great day along Dee estuary side of the Wirral today. Had amazing views of a stunning male Hen Harrier from Denhall Quay which was accompanied by a ringtail Hen Harrier, 3 Short-eared Owls, 5+ Marsh Harriers, Peregrine and at least 5 White Egrets. -

Flint Point, Shotton & Chester
Cracking record for NE Wales. I managed to catch up with it at Burton Mere where it was showing really well also two Spoonbills present. -

Norfolk birding
I'm making a first ever visit to Norfolk on Friday with the intention of visiting Titchwell, Snettisham and other places in the area. Looking at the high tides, they aren't the highest but will the Waders be easily viewable despite this? Hoping to see Grey Plover, Sanderling and Bar Tailed Godwit.. -

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast
Good day on the Dee Estuary today starting at Denhall Lane walking to Neston Sewage Works and back. Had a Great White Egret from Nets Cafe, Hen Harrier and Marsh Harrier from the Harp Inn and a single Water Pipit by the sewage works. Didn't see any SEO though. Called at Burton Mere and had... -

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast
Paid a visit to Lapwing Hall Pool near Chelford for the first time today. The long staying Black Necked Grebe was still present along with 4 Pintail, 3 Goldeneye, 7 Pochard, 30 Wigeon, 10 Shoveler, 2 Little Grebe and lots of Coot, Mallard, Tutfies and Canada Geese. -

The area Ivan describes is the right place, it took me a while to find it last week but I eventually found it when it appeared on the sea wall with a few Linnets before flying onto the beach. Just look for Linnets and you should hopefully find the Twite mingling with them :t: In other news a... -
