Swarovski SLC 8x56 or Canon 10x42L IS for Astronomy?

I was referring to the Nikon EDG 7x42 with that comment, although I’m able to use the Canon 10x42 as well if I remove my eyeglasses.

Swarovski SLC 8x56 or Canon 10x42L IS for Astronomy?

Well, I already had the Canon 10X42L IS so was really just interested to hear what others would say about the comparison between that and a Swaro that should be relatively easy to handhold steadily. I agree with much of what others have written on both sides but tend toward the IS as allowing...

EDG 7/8/10 x42 still in production?

I’m going to correct what I wrote earlier. I looked again at a few streetlights more carefully than last night (last night I was mostly fixated on the moon and looked at a relatively close streetlight for a short time) and saw the diffraction spikes extending from the lights in somewhat diagonal...

EDG 7/8/10 x42 still in production?

I did try a streetlight in my neighborhood but didn’t see the diffraction spikes there either. In that case, though, I’m wondering if I didn’t see any spikes because my neighborhood uses mercury lights that cast a warm (almost orange) light. I may see if I can try it on a brighter streetlight...

EDG 7/8/10 x42 still in production?

I looked at the moon tonight with my EDG 7x42. It was a clear night and the moon was roughly 60% full. I didn’t see the diffraction spikes with or without my glasses on. Interesting 🤔.

    Favorite Digiscope for Binoculars?

I have a couple Nikon EDG binoculars and Canon IS binoculars. I’ve tried a Novagrade digiscope, a Celestron NexYZ, and a few cheap (~ $15-20 USD) digiscopes to take photos with my iPhone. None of the digiscopes has seemed very stable with the connection to the binoculars’ eyepieces, probably...

    Questar Field Scope for Birding?

Questar, in its advertisements in the 60’s and 70’s, often showed an image of a bird through the scope, if I remember correctly. Just wondering whether any BF members actually use their Questar scopes for regular birding. If so, do you use the fast focus accessory or the regular focus? Thank...

    Experience with Buying from Kyoei-Osaka

I’ve found shipping fees are generally dependent on the value of the item (for insurance), the weight of the item, the dimensions of the box that contains the item, and the carrier itself. These fees, of course, can and do change over time. Not all pay the $45 DHL administrative fee, just...

    Experience with Buying from Kyoei-Osaka

I haven’t tried it but you may be able to order directly on the website - kyoei-osaka.jp - now. If you go to the website, scroll all the way down and click on “FAQ about international orders” it describes the process. With any questions, however, I’d definitely contact Tsutomu, as noted. Also...
