    Interesting Lesser Whitethroat

Found this bird on Sunday 13/10/19 on Holy Island. Managed to observe and photograph it on Tuesday 15/10/19. Notable white outer tail feathers, and muted 'mask' plus brownish nape etc. Suggestion that it is halimodendri. Any thoughts?

    Hawke, impressive after sale service

Dropped them out my bag onto a driveway, eyepieces down... I knew immediately it was not good. Left eyepiece sheared internal thread, right eyepiece damaged the diopter ring.

    Hawke, impressive after sale service

A week past Sunday I rather clumsily dropped my pair of Hawke Sapphire ED 10x42. I returned them to Hawke to look at, but alas they were beyond repair. They offered me 50% off a new pair of equivalent type. I ordered a pair of Frontier ED X 10x42 which arrived on Monday. I have to say I was...

    Interesting Wheatear

Took this shot yesterday near Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland. Wondered if it was leucorhoa, Greenland type? (I appreciate that plumage alone is not conclusive).

    Mercantour in June

I noticed a dearth of information on bird locations prior to a trip this year, so I thought I'd better post some information. I would stress that it was not a pure birding trip and we did not visit obvious places such as Le Boreon or Col de la Bonnette. Here is a very brief summary of birds...

    The Highlands and Islands Thread

Glaucous gull, Reiff, Coigach A bit of late news, but may be of interest. Spotted a glaucous gull lounging about on Loch of Reiff (NB 965 147) on Saturday. Alas, didn't have my usual camera but my mate managed some pics on his fancy bridge camera. Posted here...

    Bunting ID, Greenland

Taken near the Fox Jaw Cirque, East Greenland by a friend of mine last month. I was thinking lapland bunting, but not sure. I've only seen wintering birds in UK.
