    July 6, 2012 Ngorongoro crater... Arnot's Chat ??

    Dear all, I believe I saw Arnot's Chat in the Crater on July 6 early morning (7 am). The white capped was obvious. The bird was just as you reach the botton of the crater just to the right of the Seneto descent road. Would appreciate any comments. thanks Broady

    Thanks to all who replied. I did not know that Great Spotted or Middle Spotted could do this type of "ringing". Interestingly, this tree was the only one to be "ringed" in the vicinity. The picture is just showing a small part, but the whole trunk was actually ringed. Best to all, Broady

    Dear birders, I was at "Lac du Der" this week-end and saw this tree with many rows of woodpecker holes. Which European Woodpecker does that? I saw this for sapsuckers in North America but never noticed it in Europe before. Thanks Broady

    Booted eagle in Lorraine, France ?

    Why I got confused.... This is why I was confused... I first put this down as a Common Buzzard based on jizz and shape but I took a picture because of an "odd" feeling I had. Back home and going through some of the guide books, this bird would suggest to be more towards a Booted Eagle...
