huge unknown bird in runcorn cheshire

Now seems to be about the right time of the year to see Cranes on migration but its a rare sighting I would say. I have not seen any reports of any about this area so far and not in the last month. Could it have been a Great White Egret? There are few of them knocking around now and certainly...

    Wood Warbler sites

If you are passing through South Lakes between Grasmere and Rydal is White Moss Common, there are always Wood Warbler there. In the area by the bridge over the river you will easily get Redstart, Pied and Spotted Flycatcher, Garden Warbler and Wood Warbler. Marsh Tit too

    Lowepro Scope Travel 200AW

Yes I find the overall tightness too much of a nuisance for my taste. I think my bag is more suitable for camera gear or someone with a lot smaller scope. Lowepro a bit of customer awareness needed here!!

    Lowepro Scope Travel 200AW

Hi Borjan I read your review and it encouraged me to update my thoughts on the 350 bag I have. Good to see we have similar thoughts on the subject. Glad to see you are getting on with your bag. Alas I am giving up with my bag and I am going back to a rucksack.

Lowepro Scope Photo Travel 350 AW bag

Just a quick update in case anyone is considering this bag. I have given up on it and will probably put it on EBay or something. My main issue is that it just doesnt take my scope properly. As I have stated above its a big scope and the bag really cant take it and anything else. I have found...

Lowepro Scope Photo Travel 350 AW bag

We never seem to review in any detail the sundry items we acquire as birders. There are lots of opinions about bins, scopes and now camera’s and then I suppose waterproofs. After that tripods maybe but seldom do we consider a bag. We seem more than happy to spend many hundreds on all of that...

Bridge cameras-the new must have gadget for birders?

Just come back to this thread and I see Jon is going for the Nikon 520 which has wifi capability so he can download to phone/tablet etc so long as that has. So potentially he could dispense with a need for cards or usb sticks etc.. I'd plat around with this first to see how good it is

Access to salt marsh hides at Leighton Moss

I was there today and the work starts Monday for about 6 weeks. A guy was putting signs up in the hides. Its really the last two weeks when access is denied to cars and the middle two will be disruption as contractors may have to move their vehicles but the beginning two weeks should be ok...

Bridge cameras-the new must have gadget for birders?

Hi Jon When I trawled around I'm sure one of the cameras I looked at was either wifi enabled or bluetooth. But cant remember which now. Sorry

Bridge cameras-the new must have gadget for birders?

Not sure what you mean by one upmanship here. The Panasonic 24x had great reviews for its use in nature pictures so my simple reasoning was that it would be a better purchase now it was upgraded with 60x. However it wasnt an option as I only found out about its release after getting the Canon...

Bridge cameras-the new must have gadget for birders?

I bought the Canon SX50 about 3 weeks ago exactly for the reasons outlined here. I am not a photographer abd dont want to be but just want record shots and maybe a few half decent pics for myself. 50x zoom up to 200x optical. Brilliant. last week in Norfolk I was getting incredible shots of...

    Hide Clamps

just an extra thought on the ones you have researched. They are great value but my only gripe is the jaw width. Its 45mm which for most hides is ok but I have found an annoying few that are just beyond that by a mm or two. Pound to a penny it will at the place where you find great pictures to...
