    Llangollen bridge

Looking for exposed rocks in the river which are covered in bird poo is a good way of locating their favourite spots!

    NE Wales birdingwatching

An 8m hike around the moors yesterday, starting at Worlds End, plenty of stonechats and meadow pipits around. We saw a female black grouse with some chicks, a couple of distant male black grouse in flight, at least 3 nesting curlews and a few common redstarts. Highlight was a couple of minutes...

Meadow or Tree Pipet North Wales

Many thanks for all the comments! I know how you feel Peter! Looking at Collins again, I think the claw probably clinches it as meadow, + the streaks on the flanks maybe aren't as fine as I thought. the head markings are a little confusing to me though! Thanks again!

Meadow or Tree Pipet North Wales

I originally assumed this was a meadow pipet but after looking in my Collins and reading the blurb, I'm now thinking its a tree pipet? Seen in low level pasture near Llandegla. thanks!

    Videoscoping question

Some cameras have "macro focus" or "macro zoom" settings which can sometimes help with focussing on closeup stuff when zoomed.

    Videoscoping question

Assuming that you are altering the zoom on the camera and not the scope, then as you zoom out the camera the focal length of the lens changes and it can no longer focus on the scope image. You get a similar effect with the camera alone, dial it back to minimum zoom and point the camera at...

    NE Wales birdingwatching

Cant believe its been 1.5 years since I posted in this forum wot I started ages ago! Anyway, beautiful 6m walk with my dog yesterday on a bright sunny but cold January day from Rhewl (West of Llangollen) up to Moel Morfydd. Fantastic views, love it up here on a nice day, come summer it'll be...

    Is this Fox Poo

Doesn't look quite right to me but I'm no poo-ologist! Looks like it's got berries or fruit stones in it?
