Collared Sparrowhawk 3 (Accipiter cirrhocephalus)

Footnote! This species of hawk has particularly long middle toes. According to the mighty HANZAB (Handbook of Australian, New Zealand & Antarctic Birds) one feature of the Collared Sparrowhawk that distinguishes it from the Brown Goshawk is that in the sparrowhawk the distal joint of the middle toe lies beyond the base of the outer claw. I must admit I don't always pick this when a flushed bird scoots off through the canopy! After drinking the bird bathed in the trough, hence the sopping feathers.
