Red Tailed Hawk
I often visit this park to take photos. There is ample prey for RTH: ground squirrels, hares, quail among other things. This red-tail seems to favor a low altitude approach from behind large oaks, as opposed to soaring high in the sky. I am alerted to its presence by the warning call of the ground squirrels, then I quickly ready my camera. This is about the best photo I can get of a hawk flying overhead with my current camera. Eye contact makes this photo special.
