Female Northern Cardinal on a windy winter day (Cardinalis cardinalis)

A few days before Christmas, we had a rare early-winter storm, bringing high wind, a few inches of snow and sub-zero temperatures Farenheit. This cold female cardinal was foraging for food in the blowing snow.

She looks cold but birds are so strong having defenses against the cold and she looks so pretty in the snow. Beautiful shot.
