The grey shrike thrush he pipes a lovely song
Once heard he's one you never can get wrong
His whistle sounds melodious and clear
His beautiful voice is a joyful thing to hear.

Near wooded places they are to be found
And they nest on tree or stump, building or even on the ground
And in her cup shaped nest of bark and coarse grass lined with fine rootlets the female lay
Three to four pale eggs with brown spots through the gray.

Of dullish colours buff, light grey and brown
As fine songsters they deserve their renown
At the woodland edge they whistle on the trees
And their pleasant notes they carry in the breeze.

Insects, skinks and the nestlings of small birds they eat
And blowflies and beetles to their taste buds taste sweet,
Whistling Dick for them is another often used name
And in camping grounds where humans frequent they become almost tame.

In wooded places birds I often see
Their Latin name of Colluricincla Harmonica does seem apt for them to me
Familiar birds to many one might say
And to their identity their song a give away.
