At almost the start of November (only one day out) I thought I would start a blog on my observations of birds in my garden and also add short reports of local and not so local birding walks and trips.
This morning the one legged female Blackbird (that appeared in my garden two weeks ago, with then a badly mangled leg and re-appeared last Saturday 31st Oct minus the mangled leg) came in to the garden for her breakfast. She looks fit and is coping well. As the Woodpigeons suddenly took flight she also took flight and flew to a tree in the garden but did not manage to land, I suppose this will be a major obstacle for her. My concern is that she may be easy prey for the local Sparrowhawk.

It's amazing how quickly they adapt to their new circumstances, Pam. We saw a one-legged guinea fowl that was just as agile on his single pin as the two-legged ones. I hope she survives.

It is amazing how birds adapt, Jane! I just hope that the wound has healed cleanly for her, as I mentioned she did look fit so it looks promising for her. I will update on my blog if/when I see her again.
