Today was my first serious birding outing, with the 70-200 2.8 IS and the 2x extender. I woke up at 6am and was out the door by 6:30. I headed for the park nearby, and was amazed at the volume of bird song in the air. Add to that the beautiful weather, and I knew that today would be a good day to start!

Here are a few of my picks:

1 - Rock Thrush

2 - Japanese White-Eye

3 - Chinese Bulbul (Light-Vented Bulbul)

4 - House Sparrow

The 70-200 2.8 IS and 2x extender combo was horrible. In order to get any sharpness out of it, I had to stop down to f/11, and that forced me to use high ISO, slow shutter speeds, or a combination of both to get the shots that I wanted.

To remedy this, though, I have had a 300mm f/2.8L IS coming to me in the mail for a couple of weeks now. It should be here any time soon!

Some really stunning photos.

Why not go to the main forums to say Hello and the gallery as well as your pictures would be appreciated there. As the blog does get ignored to a certain degree.
