    A winter cutie on its perch. Almost incredible to see a stonechat here at this time of the year.

    Six and a half hours outdoors today. I took my bike looking for birds along the Isar river. Freezing minus 7 C to minus 3 C. Frozen paths, difficult to cycle et cetera and ... I found a male stonechat in winter plumage in Munich. I spotted other birds as well but this is def. an unusual one.

    That stonechat was quite close to me as I was standing below on the beach,taking photos of a kingfisher.

    I found this bird in El Fondo nature reserve located in Alicante area, Spain. Photographed with Canon EOS 1D Mark III and Canon EF 400mm F/2.8 L IS USM with 2X extender and manual settings on my camera. This was photographed from a car window... It was the end of the day and late afternoon light...
