    General question

That's crazy. I never see caterpillars. We do get blue tits and I think coal tits but not 100% sure if they're coal or great. They're the ones with mostly black on? You're lucky to have a nest box. We can't as next doors cat is a terror. I love watching the birds though and will forever chase...

    General question

Hi. Yeah I know I should have used a different way of trying to explain. But it just got me wondering as I know birds go mad for mealworm but when putting them out, it just feels like there’s nothing to them. You know? Thank you for answering!

    General question

Hi guys. Just a general question. I know it probably won’t be easy to answer. However, I was just wondering what the equivalent would be for birds for food. So a box of chips to us is a decent amount of food for us, what would a mealworm let’s say to the starlings, like in comparison, would one...

    Kitten biscuits

Hi guys. I know this might sound a strange question, but we feed hedgehogs kitten biscuits and the blackbirds and magpies normally finish them off. Is this safe? I did read cat food can be more nutrition for the birds than most bird food but can someone confirm or tell me otherwise as I don't...

    Black bird fledgling

Thank you for the quick reply. We have a few sparrowhawks round here also so the poor thing might have become a meal for one of them. I just feel sad because I try and cater for them all daily(of course not over feeding as I don’t want them dependant) but I do feed all from sparrows to jackdaws...

    Black bird fledgling

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post, however just seen a magpie trying to take a fledgling, which I know magpies are known for that kind of thing however the parents chased the magpie but the magpie was still chasing the fledging, I went out and the magpie flew off. However, the...

    Jackdaw

Hi guys, not entirely sure where to post this however I’m just looking to see if anyone can help. I know a few of our gardens birds I’ve seen have rings on, I’ve never really thought anything of it as I know sometimes birds are ringed, a few starlings anyways, but there has been a jackdaw coming...

    Unknown bird noise?

Hi, yes sorry it’s not the best. And I have just listened to the video against the sounds on the internet of a Redshank. No sound was the same however it had that “same tone”. And we do get Redshanks here. I know some birds sounds change a lot. Thank you for your help!

Bird of prey over my garden in Sevenoaks, Kent UK

Amazing birds to watch!! Dumfries and Galloway (Scotland) has a Red Kite trail and also a feeding station, and it’s absolutely amazing to see them. They do get fed meat sometimes and I think they hunt a lot of road kill(?). Don’t quote me on that though haha! The giveaway for the kite is the...

    Unknown bird noise?

Can anyone help with identifying this bird sound? No app is picking it up. And I’m sure I’ve heard it before around a reservoir but I just can’t put my finger on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! Sarah

    Sparrowhawk

Thank you. Yeah I think we’re lucky to never have seen pigeon feathers spread out. We have pigeons and doves visit regularly but never witnessed any of the sprawks taking them. I guess little birds are easier.

    Sparrowhawk

Hi! Thank you, I will start and share my photos, I have many. I’m not a pro photographer but I’m not that bad if I say so myself haha! But yes, I agree, luckily our visitors have trees to hide in. Except during winter, they struggle. But I’m hoping that they will all get through it. Thank you...

    Sparrowhawk

Oh don’t get me wrong, they are beautiful. We had a young female and male not so long ago, which I’m assuming is from our normal visitors. You’re more than welcome to take our sprawks if you wish 🤣🤣! But no, I know that they have to feed also, and it’s life, but it’s more the case I’m so...

    Sparrowhawk

Thank you. That’s how I try to look at it, I know the sparrowhawks need to feed also which is why I try block out any noise or such when I know they are in the garden but it’s just so hard. I never said I never liked the sparrowhawks, they’re beautiful birds and I’ve taken many photos of ours...
