Trogon cupreicauda

Identification

23–25 cm (9-9¾ in)
Male

  • Green head, upper breast and back
  • Black throat and face
  • Yellow bill
  • Pale blue eye-ring
  • Yellow belly
  • White undertail, barred black
  • Black and white wing coverts

Female

  • Brown head, upper breast and back
  • Rufous upper tail
  • Yellow belly
  • Mostly yellow bill
  • Pale eye-ring wider behind and in front of the eye

Variation

It is possible to find males of this species with yellow eye-ring

Distribution

Tropical western Colombia and western Ecuador
