so far, tons of american robins, house sparrows, common starlings, morning doves, cardinals and blue jays. Ive seen small numbers of horned larks and swamp sparrows in milham park down the street, portage creek flows through the park and very large numbers of canada geese and mallards can be seen in and around it all year long. free flying mute swans are to be had in abundance around here and there are calls for their removal as pests every now and then. there are a few introduced greylag geese that live in the park as well, though i doubt that they could survive in the wild very long without the human handouts which they so heavily depend on throught the year. marsh wrens are already nesting in the creekside thickets and blue grey gnatcatchers and cedar waxwings can be seen in the canopys of several huge tuliptrees which are budding out now. there are several red tailed hawks patrolling the brushy areas and powerline cutovers around the suburbs and every so often at night you can hear the deep hooting of a solitary great horned owl in the distance.
