Birds of Durham Heritage Project

Just a reminder that there is an evening function at Gateshead Civic Centre today to celebrate the forthcoming conclusion of the Birds of Durham Heritage Project. The event is in the Council Chamber on the first floor of the Civic Centre and starts at 7pm, finishing by 9pm. There is a talk on the progress and results of the project, a display of the artwork, photos and sample text from the avifauna, chance for Q&As... Entrance is free and all are welcome.

The project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and one of the key aspects is the publishing of a new county avifauna. This has suffered a slight delay but will be published in February/March of next year. Some of the heritage plaques marking historical ornithological events in the county are already in place, with others to follow very shortly. The series of guided public walks is almost at its conclusion. Plenty has been going on behind the scenes in this ground breaking project, so why not come along to Gateshead tonight to hear the full story and speak to those involved.
