Singing Corn Bunting, Oare (1 Viewer)

Went down to Oare Marshes yesterday (15th April) with a group of friends. Not much on the scrape as the water is still ridiculously high, and only a few waders on the mud. Plenty of sedge warblers displaying and a few Sandwich and common terns came up the Swale with the rising tide as did a single Med. gull. Bird of the day was this male corn bunting singing on a wire on the Oare road at the last sharp turn before the cottages. Corn buntings are getting pretty hard to find and a singing male was a real highlight for me. Grab shot taken with a Panosonic FZ18 and Nikon X1.5 teleconverter.

Excellent to see a Corn Bunting, rare bird in SE. Not sure of the last time we had one in Surrey.
