Parakeets over Woodford Green (1 Viewer)

Saw one, probably heard two, what could only be rose ringed (ring necked) parakeets, half a mile north of the Woodford County girls school.
Saw a small flock of them over Rainham last year identified by a guide so am pretty certain, nothing else in the UK looks like them.

Bit of a surprise, are they known to be spreading north & east?

Noisy too, first time I've heard them. Magpies now have a rival.

They are becoming fairly frequent in NE London these days, albeit still notable. I live between Loughton and Buckhurst Hill, and see up to half a dozen heading north early morning once or twice a week at the moment.

They're breeding in Wanstead now, so the range is definitely expanding in our direction.

We get down to Wanstead High Street most Saturdays so I'll keep a look out.

Where's the best place to see them, the wooded area by the cenotaph? Or the other end past Wanstead station?

At least 6 of the green flying crosses appear to have taken up residence in the large trees East of Crealock Grove. Wake me up every morning flying and squawking; what with them, the wood pigeons, and magpies mobbing the crows, it sure was a noisy area early this morning
