Orkney (1 Viewer)

Is there anything specific you're wanting to discuss about Orkney? There are old threads featuring Orkney but it's probably easiest just to do whatever you want on this new thread.

I'm also going to Orkney in June, I've been twice before, the last time was in 2016. There are something like 5 RSPB Reserves on the mainland. Cottascarth and The Loons in particular are both great and have hides. Marwick Head is good for sea birds and The Brough of Birsay, a tidal island usually has a few Puffins. One of the roads up to Yesnaby was really good for Short-eared Owls. Apart from the RSPB reserves though, anywhere you can park at the coast has a chance of something.

If you can manage even one extra island, I'd recommend Hoy, there are White-tailed Eagles, and the walk out to the Old Man of Hoy is great and there are Fulmars nesting on the Old Man.

Warning! This thread is more than 1 year ago old.
It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
