Too follow up a bit - Yellow-green Vireo shows up in California in small numbers most autumns. This has been a good year for them, with several reported. This bird was in Davenport, Santa Cruz County, in early October. Here is a crop of the photo, giving a better view of the bird. Unfortunately, I did not get any photos of it that were much better.
