My old 'oppo' sent me this pic last night from his phone. He was coming off shift on Threadneedle Street when he came across this on the pavement. What was even more impressive was he knew what it was! (He was a non-birder who accompanied me on many a jolly abroad when we were both in the services)

Nice one, I'll be looking out for them on my local patch now. Ive seen them in a few places in London, Gunnersbury Park and The London wetland centre, but not in the street like this. Great find!

Its odd that there seems to be a few Woodcock records from the City area of London. I'm guessing the lights on the tall buildings have the same effect as a lighthouse has on other migrating birds.

Any idea what happened to it?
