Hey all,

I just took a quick trip in Myanmar as a pre-trip to an organized tour in Thailand.

I've finally got the trip report done. It's now on CloudBirders: Here

Enjoy!

A very nice report Jeff - further encourages me to try to get to Myanmar, especially when the key birds are in the temple area at Bagan.

I notice a lot of overlap with W China, but also with NE India, which has more birds for me.

Cheers
Mike

Hi Mike,

I haven't been to Yunnan, but at Mt. Victoria there was definitely some overlap with Sichuan. I was surprised that much of what I saw also overlapped with Emeifeng in Fujian, too (e.g. great barbet, bay woodpecker, chestnut-bellied rock-thrush, etc.)

The lowland species were more similar to what I saw in Laos and Cambodia, but I suspect they'd also be similar to parts of southern China, too.

Great report, Jeff. We have already seen many of these birds but there are still plenty of lifers for us there. It's not just about the birding, though - I like the cultural aspects too. It's all part and parcel of visiting a new country.
