They are a lovely bird.
Having birded in both Cheshire and Colombia I can tell you with certainty which of those two you will hear a Masked Flowerpiercer in, and it ain't Cheshire!

As to what your Cheshire songster might have been, Masked Flowerpiercer doesn't sound a million miles away from Treecreeper (after a quick check on Xeno Canto).

As you thought, it was rather unlikely to be a Masked Flowerpiercer. It strikes me you have downloaded the World pack, rather than Europe or the one for Great Britain; it would be best to restrict your searches to the more local packs, which should avoid these problems. Unless of course you're on holiday in a far-flung place LOL
