Marbury No. 1 (1 Viewer)

Very quiet today - no waders whatsoever on Marbury No. 1 and a single Green Sandpiper down on the brook.

The footpath was closed but still a number of dog walkers around. Looks like they are building a wide gravel path/cycle track down to the Anderton Boat Lift and generally making the whole place 'user friendly'. Pity really as this is one of the few 'wild' bits of Cheshire left.

Does anyone know what is happening at Neumann's Flash by the way - there are bulldozers and markers posts all over the place - I hope they don't turn it into another depressing set of industrial units.

The path is closed for safety reasons to allow the construction of a pedestrian bridge that will link the Ashton Reserve to the Northwich side of Witton Brook.
This, and the work at Neumann's is part of a £2.3 million regeneration scheme that will provide safe slopes and ground profile for new footpaths, cycleways and bridleways plus extensive reed beds, woodlands and a calcareous grasslands. Work began in the Spring and is scheduled to last for 70 weeks.
