Did the usual walk today, saw numerous Canada Geese and watched 4 playing on the river.
Woodpeckers were quite active, heard the Pileated call a number of times but didn't see it.
Saw two plump Robins foraging in the bush, a sure sign that spring is not far off.
Saw the usual Chickadees, Nuthatches and Finches, but also heard different birds singing so it is a good indication that the spring migration has started.
Saw a large hawk at altitude but couldn't say what kind it was.
Saw a largish grey or off white bird through the brush with a call that sounded like a crow with a sore throat, which trailed off to a kind of cackle. Have no idea what kind of bird it is, can't find anything that looks or sounds like it online. It had the appearance of a large thrush or cuckoo.
The area we frequent is heavy bush and trees so getting pictures is not easy.
It was another great day of birding, nature is so full of wonder.
