I have seen this celebrated today without really any context. Sadly, I then checked when the persecution had started and the point that this reflects against natural pre-persecution levels.

What has changed for them to increase so rapidly? Did they expand the suplementary feeding as proposed a while back or just better protection. Obviously there is still a serious amount of persecution going on! One of the problems is that on quite a few occasions the R.S.P B have put out inaccurate info on how/ where birds have died or assumed a bird disappearing was by foul.means. Not sticking up for the dodgy part of the shooting brigade , but this makes perfect propaganda for them.

I was chatting the other day with a warden at Blacktoft about the decline of the traditional winter roost there. Hopefully they will become more of a regular sight.

Furlough through sarscov2 emergency would be my bet.

That any survive their first year would be a miracle.
