We are planning a two week trip to Iceland this summer in the above time frame. We were wondering if Grimsey is worth the trip or should we spend our day elsewhere? Thanks!

It's been many years since I went to Grímsey but I think you'll enjoy the trip there, not least the experience of being out in the middle of the ocean and looking south to see the mountainous coast of northern Iceland across the whole southern horizon. There are no birds you can't see elsewhere but it has large colonies of Atlantic Puffins and Thick-billed Murres and masses of Arctic Terns.

Thanks Edward. We are just going to burn a day which is probably good. Give us a chance to recuperate and relax a day while there. Birding wise there is nothing new or specific there. But she wants to hit the artic circle so it looks like we are going!
