For anyone interested in using mobile technology for ticking birds, have a look at Duncan Watson's SA Birding Checklist. Unfortunately, it's only available on Android.

I have set it up to use the 1984 SA Bird list, so I don't have to worry about the name changes. This also allowed me to use the Transvaal Bird Atlas to set up a Transvaal quicklist and from that, quicklists for KNP and Pilanesberg. I am now busy entering my old bird lists and setting up life lists for various areas where I have done extended birdwatching outings.
