Hainan on the fly

Thinking this is good for Intermediate Egret. Slightly rounded head but not as round as Cattle Egret. Bill longer that CE but not as long and thick as Great Egret. Neck shorter than GE. Am I on the right track here?

Thanks,

Brian

The second image suggests great as the gape appears to extend past the eye. But the overall jizz seems reasonable for intermediate and the gape pattern isn't reproduced in the other images. I can't safely id this: I'd need better pics

Bill size and shape looks OK for Intermediate. The neck is of fairly even diameter and lacks the "broken neck" link of Great. The bird seems to have breast plumes too.

Thanks for taking a look at my blurry pictures. The equipment I'm working with does make safe identification difficult at times. Not sure if it helps but I've edit the second picture in attempt to get a better look at the gape pattern.

Thanks Andy! I've managed to get a good enough picture to identify all the other Egrets in range here in Hainan (Great, Cattle/Eastern and Little). For some reason, getting a clear enough picture for Intermediate has proven challenging. In the field I did have an immediate feel based on size and proportion that this bird was Intermediate. Appreciate you taking the time to take a look and comment.
