Egg retention in Brown Kiwis (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find a scientific paper that either proves or disproves that brown kiwis are able to retain their eggs before laying to ensure that their eggs are laid in optimal environmental conditions.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a paper like this.

thanks

Can't help you with your question but i would like to wish you a warm welcome from those of us on BirdForum!

Do they even do that? Nesting in burrows/hollow logs etc means conditions will always pretty benign & the female just dumps the egg for the male to look after anyway? I know nothing about kiwis but a bit about burrow nesting birds
