Auguste Genin (1862–1931) was a Franco-Mexican industrialist, entrepreneur, archaeologist, ethnographer and collector.

The Key to Scientific Names
Auguste Genin (1862-1931) Franco-Mexican industrialist, entrepreneur, archaeologist, ethnographer, collector (subsp. Chlorestes candida).

If Wikipedia is correct Auguste Alexis Manuel Génin (but looks well researched). May as well be a Belgian? I think classification in Chlorestes instead of Amazilia here.

Attached is his birth registration. Born 18th of June in the Capital Federal with the name Manuel Alejo Genin. Not sure what all this emphasis on nationality is - he was born in Mexico, end of story. Not sure where Auguste comes from...

If we read ALEXIS MANUEL AUGUSTE GÉNIN on JSTOR the nationality is not clear at all. Mexican (born and died there), French (the father) or Belgian (the mother).

The complete obituary can be seen freely here.

Therin, this:
(= At the time of Mexico's participation in the Universal Exhibition of 1889, the French Government demanded that it be one of their nationals who would represent tobacco planters and Mexican cigarette and cigar manufacturers. M. Génin, having travelled through all the regions that produce tobacco in Mexico and Cuba, and having studied the question thoroughly, was presented by the Mexican government and approved by the French government; as such, he was part of the Mexican Commission.)
...implies that he had (at least) French nationality.

Is there a death registration from Mexico City as well? Does this contain the name Auguste?
