Hello guys, i have just purchased a pair of Carl Zeiss Octarem 8x50 B/GA Rubber armoured binoculars and would like to age them. The serial number is 6635298 any help would be appreciated. Many thanks Matt.

first of all, welcome on board...:)

To find out the exact age you should call Zeiss, they can tell you exactly.

My rough estimate, mid 80s.

The questions come up often, based on the serial number it is hardly possible to give an exact date of manufacture for most models, sometimes the serial numbers don't even make sense chronologically for the uninitiated, a lower serial number can be manufactured later than a higher serial number.

For the layperson, it's sometimes a bit of a mess.;)
