Hi all

I was lucky enough to photograph this bird last week on the Tapan Road, Mount Kerinci. Does any body know if any other photos exist of this species in the wild?

Best wishes,

Dave

Hello Dave,

Well, I checked OBI and didn't found any other in wild pictures, just yours and two picture of trapped bird. Since this is the most complete image database in this area, i can assure that there are very less, if none, picture of this bird in wild and your picture maybe the only one. However i don't know if local birdwatchers there have taken it's picture before. They are very active club so there's a possibility they have taken this bird's picture before, but they didn't share it on international forum.
Congratulation for this mega-tick!

Thanks Panji,

I have been informed that there may be some camera trapped images of the species in the wild, but I have not yet seen one.

Kind regards

Dave

Nice photo Dave! Im just scribing a trip report from a recent trip to Sumatra as well (in the vacation section). There wont be any photos to show of this one from me though, they are sneeky, yet another species with cloaking capabilities. I think I have seen camera trap images, but cant find the stills on the net. Here is a video though. Try at 1:06 just after the Hoogerwerfs!!

Cheers,

Oh yeah, i forget about Eyes of Leuser Project. However if you refers 'picture' as a static view of an object, not a video like they did in ELP, your picture maybe the first one.

Thanks Gareth, that's a great video!!!

I did read your report last night, and look forward to the next installment.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the vid link. The bit on the Hoogerwerf's Pheasant clip, when the chick comes bouncing in, is superb!

cheers, alan

In another of their vids, the White-Winged Duck has half a dozen cute duckings zooming around in the stream near the parent. Adorable!
