bird guidebooks Brazil (1 Viewer)

Hi Jurek,

Are you about to go out to look for a large cat amongst other things?

There is a new guide out which I've not yet seen but looks interesting - http://www.nhbs.com/wildlife_conservation_society_birds_of_brazil_tefno_174391.html&tab_tag=album

This won't cover some of those birds from the Atlantic Forest/Cerrado overlap, Caraca, Caratinga etc

This photographic guide is also quite useful - http://www.nhbs.com/title.php?tefno=175747
Also handy - http://www.bradtguides.com/Book/239/Pantanal-Wildlife.html

This book is the best bird field guide available for Brazil yet, but it won't help you much around São Paulo (if time is a premium there, why don't you just concentrate on seeing the Marsh Antwrens near Mogi das Cruzes?).

The Finnish-authored site guide is OK as far as it goes (tries to do tooooooo much in my opinion---should have either stuck to being a site guide or a photo ID book, but not both). It doesn't cover the Pantanal of course, but it would be helpful for a day around São Paulo and does tell you how to get to the antwren site.

Thanks a lot!

Actually, the cat comes first, birds come second. ;) I got van Perlo guide yesterday, and, to say, it is not completely satisfying :smoke: so I am looking for alternatives.
