    The taxomomists are looking at the whole issue of the status of the Spangled and Hair-crested Drongo complex. This was given specific status as Palawan Drongo (Dicrurus palawanensis) on a recent Birdtour Asia tour of the Philippines. Let's wait and see where it does end up!

    Drongos,found throughout much of Asia,parts of Africa and down to Australia are predominantly black in colour.Many,like this Spangled Drongo also have characteristic fish/fork tails.Also mainly insectiverous this bird was feeding on nectar, copiously produced by the flowers of this Grevillea bush.

    The nector eaters continued to flock to this flowering tree to feed until an brown goshawk turned up. Then they all vanished rapidly. I like the contrast between the black feathers and the red eye and flowers.I also like the spatter of pollen across the beak.
