My bird was clearly a falcon, and dark, but when I first picked it up I thought that it was a Hobby, but convinced myself it was either a largish Merlin or small Peregrine. Something about the structure made me uneasy, I didn't make any notes and was still high on LP's having had them fly within...

I saw what may have been this bird on Wednesday just around sunset between Dove Point & Meols scattering waders off the sandbar but ignoring the seemingly vunerable Leach's.

The Bonxie at NB yesterday floated up river on a dead Kittiwake - and could only be seen when it flapped its wings - if a Bonxie on a dead gull could sneak past heaven knows what else!

That was the bird that lingered at Fort Perch Rock - very similar to the Wallasey bird but I'm certain it was a different bird - I wonder if most adults are just "turning" or if there were less about than we thought! Good luck to those out looking today - it's calmer here in Mcr but XCweather...

Called Jane en route to Wirral and she recommended New Brighton as there'd been a Balearic reported earlier. As I approached the Marine Parade ready to turn right towards Fort Perch Rock and the sanctuary of the shelters I saw running birders at Coastgaurds, so a quick change of direction got...

I think she may be unwell - had a text from her this afternoon and she'd not had a Leach's all day!

Thanks again - the boy is making a strong case to watch the football at present.... Won't even try and compete with those pics by the way - it is a Rhode Island Red isn't it?! ;)

I will! Might even get back today over tide if my 11 year old son can be chiselled out of bed, although he wants to watch the football (M/cr Derby) whilst I can't stand to watch unless I'm there so would rather try and photo the Pom!

Couldn't get down until early evening, but still plenty of Skua activity - 2 Arctics on the beach, somewhere between 3 and 10 offshore (inc those two and a really white headed bird), what was probably the Pom but too far out to be absolutely certain. 10+ Manxies too before the rain and cloud...
