Chiffchaff, not Chaffinch!:t: The seal has caused a lot of debate recently with the concensus being its an immature Grey Seal. There is a Common Seal lurking but the photo's taken Saturday look more like an immature Grey. This is one I took earlier - and one of one of the Chiffchaffs we ringed...

I remember the bird at Moore a few years back Pete. Stunning photogrpahs in flight but they didn't show the required under tail covert or rump detail. I know many are convinced it was a 1st winter Smiths but because of the lack of these photo's it was never submitted. Nice sketch by the way!

    Hoylake Bird Observatory

never ceases to amaze me how some people have so much luck. Snow Buntings found by someone doing WeBs count and then seen by a separate observer 2 days later, despite people combing the area for them on the two days inbetween - and no sign since. Notice to Jane: you must try harder!!!8-P

    Hoylake Bird Observatory

Hiya Jane. Any sign of the Snow Buntings reported on the beach near you or are these destined to be two more birds that disappear into the black hole!

Must be nearly as old as me then Jane. :-O Saw the news on RBA of Leach's past Wallasey so shot straight from home to New Brighton and was at Fort perch by 16.15. Two Leach's battling their way out of the Mersey mouth in a strong westerly. Also got single Storm Petrel, juv Black tern (the...
