Done. I also amended the GSearch to allow for both scientific names. We don't normally change the one used by the OP when it is a name that has been accepted in the past and we have a Re-direct set up.

Sorry, somehow missed that post Joe. Now done.

Gulp OK Joe... I can't do it straight away, but I'll work through them. Or... perhaps if I start at the end, maybe someone else could start at the beginning 'till we meet up?

Once the Re-directs are in place, there's really little point in doing the amendments on the Gallery pictures Joe. You'd be surprised at how long some of the 'old' names continue coming in. The 'downside' for me is just time.... I've a bit of a backlog of work to be done, and it really isn't...

Report images in the Gallery with the wrong scientific name

Hi again Joe I've now amended the GSearch, and it seems to work OK, finding both versions of the name. Just needs a note now on the article and maybe the Genus page two explaining the spelling difficulty; and a Redirect. There is no point editing the images directly, as that may be an ongoing...

Hi Joe Hmmmm..... not so simple, this one. Before changing them I checked with Avibase and there are several instances of this spelling having been used over several authors, including Clements, Howard and Moore and the IOC...

Thanks Mike. Corrected. I've left it at Larus, as it re-directs to the Black-headed Gull page, which is the OP's preference. So many people still use that scientific name, it would not be possible for us to catch them all, nor indeed to go through the whole Gallery to change all those that have...

OK I'm trying to marshal some assistance Michael. They'll get done, but may take a day or two.

How strange! I was sure I'd seen reference to Italy. I see both subspecies occur in France, though Avibase only mention Picardie for serrirostris.... not conclusive though I know.

OK Done. Though I've not included the subspecies of rossicus, as on checking with Avibase, it's the nominate that goes to Italy?

Hi Mick The way you handle it is absolutely fine, and much what I generally do. This thread is really to try and keep the pictures showing through the GSearch link in The Opus correct. Or as correct as possible that is. Sometimes multiple species are mentioned in an image, and that can be...
