Well if he's not actually on patch and posting (no doubt off twitching or gadding off to some foreign climes) then no. But good to see the pictures are right back on form

I'm glad to see that after the initial wobble with the new camera that pictures have recently returned to the usual Dr W standard ;)

    Birds fae Torry

Bet you feel really virtuous though ;)

    Birds fae Torry

Hmm, maybe you should have spent the day doing Maths revision ;) Seriously, sounds like you had a good day

    Birds fae Torry

Shouldn't you day goodbye to Dr W as well on this thread then ;)

I take it the jack snipe picture is like one of these old 'Evening News' 'Spot the Ball' competitions. And your local mistle thrush must be seriously hard (maybe Aggie has give him words of advice). My local MT can't even see off a dozen waxwings

    Birds fae Torry

Well after all, the much vaunted purporter of local patching has been a rare sighting at the Ness for some time-after all his sojourns ofthe last year or so ;)

    Birds fae Torry

A stringy sighting if ever I saw one. You are not too far from the local Asda's, Dr W and given your history with wrens........ will have to check in with your next door neighbour Big Aggie (not for those of a nervous disposition or those not acquainted with flowers of the invective)-the truth...

Whatever happened to the great purple sandpiper totaliser?.......

    Birds fae Torry

Well it would be good if you occasionally spent some time in Torry and then we might have some birds to talk about ;)

    Birds fae Torry

I thought it was an east coast/west coast thing myself...........

    Birds fae Torry

Yes, there is. Quite simple really. As it says on the tin, it means living in Scotland for 10 years. And to be rigorously scientific one has to apply tried and trusted methods, including meta-analysis of previous double blind case controlled studies.Take this year as an example, does gadding...

    Birds fae Torry

Hmmmm.....used to be that you could read this thread and have a quick precis of all the hot birding action round Girdleness. Now we have to look to pager services, kindly local birders and no doubt big Aggie to hear of all the scarce and rares missed.... along with the fumbling excuses Divine...

    Birds fae Torry

I'm sure you will confirm that this rediscovered missionary zeal for local patching and ignoring of exotic thrushes has nothing to do with the fact that you saw a White's in Shetland last year, I take it, Dr W ;)

    Birds fae Torry

Hmm, interesting. Your nocturnal pics have more light and composition than your daytime ones-and can make out the subject matter. With this in mind, Dr W, maybe you should be out furtively sneaking round the battery looking for evidence in the wee sma hours with camera....there again maybe not;)

    Birds fae Torry

Looks to me that the Aberdeenshire Chief Constable has been caught with his pants down though......;)

    Birds fae Torry

One of the comforts of life are the certainties. The dependable things you can rely on to always be the same. Dr W has always been one-promoting the virtues of dedicated local patching(as above) and decrying the hollow soulless existence that is twitching. And you can always smile at the...

Hmm, you don't happen to be size 8 do you, Dr W?

Some psychologists might say that the purported activities of the glonk are merely a projection of the wishes of his psyche;)- the activities of the glonk being the desires of his id, being kept in check by the needs of his superego-having to keep the veneer of respectibility, being a ahem...

    Birds fae Torry

Hmm, maybe. I would like to see, now you mention it, if you do actually count all the Purple Sandpipers, or just raise the Totaliser when you feel so inclined... Remember this is after a night on the sauce with the glonk..... Not that you would do that. You could always ask for photographic...

I just hope the record committee do not get a similar king eider submission......though their faces would be a picture

    Birds fae Torry

And after the Aberdeen BF bash, Helen, could I suggest navigator. ;)

    Birds fae Torry

My goodness, some of these pics are (he says chokingly) just about pleasing to the eye esp the RBM's-early digiscoping lessons from Santa, Andrew. ;) And even the eider royalty are almost intelligable, some of the time. Still composition...... Is this you making an effort to muscle out...
