Ring Ouzels were plentiful at Cutthroat Bridge on Sunday, only had 45 minutes and just walked to the corner where you look up the gulley on the right of the path, but saw at least 4 and possibly as many as 7 depending on which were repeat sightings of the same birds.

Rough-legged Buzzard was showing well from Windy Corner at 1pm today, in the air with a Red Kite and 3 Common Buzzards, including a pale bird that had us interested for a while until the real deal appeared. Also had at least 4 Ring Ouzels at Cutthroat Bridge.

The GRW was putting on a real show yesterday morning, I was only there for 20 minutes but the whole time it was singing its head off in full view, with only myself and a couple from Cornwall to enjoy it.

The Bitterns at Attenborough are most easily seen from the Tower Hide, but as Steph said they are mostly in flight. One of the problems is that the reeds are surrounded by wire mesh, initially to prevent geese eating the new growth while the reeds became established. It is probably time that it...

Looks like you had better views than I did, I was watching it over Sheepwash from by Stones Island and by the time I had got back round to Sheepwash there was no further sign.

This recording, which was by far the best, is okay, but as with photography once you start getting into sound recording you always want to acheive better results.

The Quails were very vocal on Elton Common this morning, with at least 5 heard, but none seen. Was quite windy so my recordings were affected by this, but you can still hear the growling "rib-bit" noise that preceeds the "wet-my-lips"

Had a run up to Howden Reservoir today, there were impressive numbers of Bramblings in the trees at the top-end of the reservoir, easily 300 and probably quite a few more. Flushed a Woodcock whilst trying to photograph the Bramblings also and whilst I didn't see them myself spoke to others that...

Great Norther Diver was still present this morning at Carsington, directly opposite Lanes End hide, but close to the far bank so not very good for photography. There were several Bullfinches at the feeding station though that were really photogenic. Mark

The Great Northern Diver was still at Carsington today, directly opposite the tower between Sheepwash and the wildlife centre. Looks to be in fairly heavy moult so should be around for a few weeks yet.

At least 5 Hawfinches showing well along the canal at Cromford this morning. They were feeding at eye-level at a distance of only 10 metres, but due to the number of people out for a New Year walk along there they kept getting disturbed, making photography difficult, but I did get one reasonable...
