Back from a week or so in north Scotland. At WGP the LRP chick still survives and hope it will fly soon. The Oycs still have their 3 young, and the Redshank got off 2 broods, both seem to have moved over to the fisherman's side. Other breeding news is a Shoveller with 6 young, and a Tufty with...

Update on breeding at WGP. The Oycs have 3 chicks remaining of the 4 that hatched and are now around a month old. Nice watching them swim between islands this am. The LRP hatched just the one chick and amazingly (as it's on dead goose island) it is doing really well and 2 weeks old now. One...

Wader breeding at WGP is encouraging. The Oycs hatched 4 chicks early last week and yesterday a pair of Redshank gave the impression of having hatched young - then this afternoon one chick was seen at the waters edge. There is definitely more than one but the vegetation is too high to see them...

It's a sod when most of the regulars are away and a good bird turns up on the patch. Pair of BN Grebes today at WGP. Very bad images attached as just had small camera and birds were on the far side of the pit. Alan Shaw has some nice video though. Be very surprised if they stay tomorrow.

The 1st summer Little Gull still at WGP for it's 3rd day, plus a Dunlin also this afternoon. Nowt else out of the ordinary I'm afraid. Advisable now to wear wellies down the lane; this rain on top of the already saturated ground is making for very wet conditions under foot.

Another good morning at WGP. The Garganey is still showing well from P1. There was an adult Little Gull from P4 (still there when I left) . A flock of 10 Blackwits in full summer plumage flew low over at 11.00, but unfortunately did not land. A Whimbrel landed on dead goose island and stayed for...

Good morning at WGP. Cracking male Garganey on water just in front of P1 - not often you get to see this beautiful duck so close. Then around 11.30 Red Kite was seen coming in over the new workings before it drifted off south and dropped behind the trees. First Common Whitethroats of the year...
