    Template/format for all locations

If I've been reading the wiki article correctly, the hcard format presents sensitive information in a format that web spiders cannot pick up so you can post an e-mail address, or other information, without fear of spiders reading it. So the code you can see in the overview is protecting the...

Hi John Compare this, which we have been working on to this which is the original format. Which do you prefer?

    Template/format for all locations

I'm expecting the articles to evolve through the input of various authors. But having the template to keep to..so that a uniform 'house style' is maintained across the platform.

    Template/format for all locations

Just looking at what's been done since yesterday...I think the page is starting to look good. I too like the idea of a printable checklist but don't know how to put one in. Where is the link to google maps going to go?

    Template/format for all locations

Looks to me like the Contents box is placed before the first heading, checked a few locations. Where there are reviews, are we going to have a set lay out for them. I've noticed in a few instances that the review has included a 'pros' and 'cons' section. Maybe encourage people to give theirs by...

    Template/format for all locations

I'm for keeping the overview as is, for same reasons Delia said...too many sites would need major edits. I like your list of sub headings for General information. Must admit I forgot to put in the reviews bit. I too like the external links bit...this would be the place for ownership stuff...

    Template/format for all locations

So after reading through the thread again we have a template looking something like this ...am I right? TITLE site only, no abbreviations, no counties or countries. OVERVIEW including type of terrain, when best to visit, who owns site, link to google maps (if possible) BIRDLIST GENERAL...

See what you mean Ben. That has arisen once already with one of the Scots reserves, originally listed as RSPB but it wasa given up by the RSPB several years ago.

    Template/format for all locations

Hi Ben 1,2, 3, and 5 in total aggreement. 4 I'd go further and not allow any abbreviations of any type, not even the obvious ones we use all the time. Just 'cos we use it, someone on the other side of the world may not know what it meant. I'd definitely keep the same format for each level of...

I think you are right Delia, probably best with it in 'Facilities'. But having a link into google maps could be ideal. save naving to import maps.

Quite agree about encouraging people to contribute and I don't want to put anyone off doing so, but have a sound and easily found template that people could work to has got to be a benefit. Whether it's one word or War & Peace you want to contribute.

    Template/format for all locations

Linking to Googlemaps might be overkill I agree. However having a clear structure from the off is probably better than having articles put in that need major editting at a later date. I like the idea of including general historical information but feel that it would be better further into the...
