    Suffolk Birding

    8 Waxwings this afternoon around Waitrose car park Sudbury. Coming down to feed on berries giving views within few feet. Sorry for rubbish pic.

    Had a look for the Marsh warbler this morning (5.15) but all I heard was Sedge and Reed, although I could be wrong about that as I have only recently got to grips with the song of those two. Adding Marsh into the mix is asking for trouble! Back to the CDs for another listen and try again...

    My first visit to Lackford Lakes today, what a great place. I walk into the visitor centre, look out the observation window and see a small strangely patterned sparrow on the feeder. The ID gears grind slowly in my brain and I realise I'm looking at my first Redpoll. That and the first singing...

    Thanks for the info on the Goosandsers Stuart, I obviously need a better ID book. Both birds on the millpond this morning coming close below the millpond wall, looking for handouts with the Mallards. Found the Waxwings on Thursday, 100m from Homebase car park, counted 27. Cheers Tom

    I have also been watching the Goosanders in Sudbury, but the bird that has been around for the last year or so I thought was an adult female. Will be getting down the road to look for those Waxwings tomorrow though. Tom
