water level Hi Sean, glad you saw plenty on your excursion, still waiting for my first cuckoo, as regards Alton in my expierence it seems that every year they top the res to the brim, just after the waterfowl have built nests and have eggs in them. Alton Had a walk in the Birchwood area today, the reservoir is full at the moment seems to have pushed a large majority of the waterfowl elsewhere, plenty of tufties and coots. Several pairs of Goldeneye, Great Crested Grebes and a single Slav. Away from the water the sun got the Skylarks... -

Alton Hi (PaulE) , hope you had some luck with the GNDiver, the bird I saw didn't seem at all unperturbed by my presence so was able to get good views of it. It can cover a huge distance underwater over 50 metres I'm sure, so in that respect it is quite mobile. I think the Goldeneye are great... -

Alton Had a walk to the Hide to the East of Lemons Hill Bridge earlier, the water level is about 6 feet down from spring levels so plenty of shoreline exposed. There are 3 islands now exposed in front of the hide. Plenty of birdlife resting on them including several Greenshanks, 20+ Lapwings... -

Alton Walked in various areas around Alton the last few evenings, heard about a dozen Nightingales singing, however only a brief sighting of one !! One of these is at the Wonder carpark, wind down your window and enjoy. Sadly no sign of the Barn Owls this year, plenty of Tawny and Little Owls... -
