Popped over to Chantry to find the Waxwings yesterday and wasn't disappointed, only 5 there but a seed laden bush in Plover Road kept em occupied for a while -

heres a couple from yesterday, probably the best!! very heavy crops taken at 1600iso but its a record, I've pm'd you, by the way the mallards were the give away, they followed the Bittern around as it moved so did they!! Maybe they've never seen one there either!!!! -

Jonny Yep it was, I posted the sighting today, thanks for finding it yesterday and the decent location although it had moved after about 30 mins I got it, I may have a rather distant record shot, if one is any good I'l stick it here later. -

Ironically I've seen more Bitterns at Minsmere by sitting on the hill overlooking the reedbeds at Dunwich, you can watch them move around the vast reedbed. As Gi says Bittern Hide is aptley named and they do feed at Island Mere, Mahsleb on BR has some nice Bittern shots from Island Mere and at... -

Theres around 20 Redwings that have hung around Gt. Blakenham, feeding in and around Gipping Road, Stowmarket Road and Plummers Dell. best chance to see them is in to Plummers Dell, take the 1st left and straight ahead is a dead end, the fence line has berry filled bushes which they occasionally... -

The RSPB had an event on the barge the Victor this week, Thur I believe, it was someone on board that posted the Slav, GND and RNG on the day. If you haven't tried one of the barge trips its a good session, went on one last Jan, had a very up close look at Long Tailed Ducks, plus loads of others -

Didn't see it this morning, but I did hear that it was seem later on when I was near the west hide, Osprey flew over, Bittern came up fight in front of Island Mere hide, Hobby made a low pass across the Mere, it was very windy this morning so most birds were taking shelter -

As always walking the dog today but with my son and no camera and I get the nicest view of an Osprey that you could want, circling over the fishing pits at Barham before heading towards Needham Market. Isn't that some ones law......... -

Tina I live in Great Blakenham a mile from Claydon, Wolves Wood is an RSPB reserve near by. As gi2012 states I can recommend the Gipping walk, I would park at the picnic area in Claydon by the bridge that divides Claydon and Great Blakenham, cross the road and enter the gate, this path leads to... -
