I've been thinking about resurecting the thread recently. It seemed for so long I was the only person posting, than as a few people were joining in I gave up! I'll try to keep it going. There is actually a fair few Oxon birders on here but very few contribute to the thread - maybe they need an...

I go away for a week and passage in Oxfordshire really kicks in, heaps of chats, waders and terns moving through along with wagtails and warblers. Even got gripped off by a mate from on local patch! Hopefully I'll find something to make up for it in the morning. Gareth

May be worth taking not that the Port meadow blog has changed host (http://oxonbirding.blogspot.com/2011/07/new-site-for-port-meadow-birding.html) I have also been rooting around for some old county publications and found these two: The Birds of Oxfordshire, by O.V. Aplin, 1889. It can be read...

Oh yeah that may be right. I thought there were later one's but I have just checked what I have and 2005 is the latest. They are probably not ready yet - a lot of (voluntary) work goes into those reports and they must be a bit behind. Admitidly 6 years does seem to be quite a long time to be...

You can purchase them directly from the OOS http://www.oos.org.uk/report.php. Even though it states the 2005 report is now available later years are too. Gareth

There's not been many posts from me of bird sightings of late. It's far easier to guide people to the Oxon going birding site and the Oxon bird log. Excellent sites but only if people choose to use them! ;) For anyone browsing this looking for a course to get started or even improve basic id...

Blimey that is pale, I can see why it was believed that was the rough legged. It seems as though the White tailed eagle that was in Hants flew high north late morning yesterday too, may well have been through oxfordshire airspace! Gareth

Hawfinches Blenhiem Palace I saw sixteen this morning at 08:00. First seen in trees just behind mini railway engine shed, moving northwest towards the house ending up in the large Ash in the corner. They were there for around 8 mins before flying down to feed in the garden. Gareth

I didn't make it Monday morning in the end (couldn't drag myself out of bed in time!). I plan to go in the morning though. They tend to be around the mini railway engine shed (SP444160). When I have seen them in the last couple of years it's when they have been in the top of the largest Ash...
