    There has been a dark billed common tern in the area, but there has also been a report of a gull billed tern too, although none of the regular lodmoor watchers has seen it. So if you've got a description it might be worth sending it to Kevin Lane the county bird recorder. Chris

    Carry on past the car park towards Haskins and turn left down green lane opposite the big care home. Park after the houses before the gate on the left. There's a stile just after the gate into the lakes. Chris

    Not much new at Longham today birdwise - the return of grey wagtail was my highlight, but good numbers of butterflies, including at least 6 clouded yellows and numbers of common blue, plus speckled wood, meadow brown, gatekeeper, and lots of dragonflies. I need a book to help me sort out...

    Wood sandpiper at Longham Lakes tonight. Quite exciting find for me. Took me a while to id it but it came out into sunlight quite close and let me photo it. Pale underwings, white rump, but didn't hear it call. Two common sand with it at times too. Chris
