Its OK bud, not knocking you or anyone else for a bit of rarity chasing.Done plenty of it myself in the past.It is fun.These days though i refuse to stand in a football sized crowd watching a yank rarity that is probably days away from snuffing it.But that`s just me.Plenty of birders only... -

Hi Dominic,this Pied Fly sighting is certainly in line with a lot of reports particulary yesterday.(see DBC sightings website).Was it male /female ? I`m guessing it was probably a juv and could not be sexed. I will keep my eyes open as Ferndown Common is one of my patches as i reside nearby... -

Thanks for the Osprey update people.Its not a lifer for me or even a county first, but i have only had a "flyover" so far for Dorset and would have loved a view like the photo posted on the DBC site which was a stunner .Presumably digiscoped .(The most recent one as there have been a couple.)... -

Bren- don`t go to the main car park but take the road from three legged cross signed to Holt.When you reach a lay-by with the Natural England sign by the gate park there and go ACROSS the road (north) to the higher piece of heath. I had a juveninile Little Gull on St Georges recreation ground last night about 6.30.Unmistakeable anyone else see it? My guide states that juveniles start moving in July so that ties up nicely. There was one on the Stour near Canford a few weeks back i believe. -

Rosate Tern/Nightjar. There was one on Brownsea a few weeks back as well. No i am not going to see this one as it happens. Re Nightjars you should be seeing plenty on Ferndown Common at the moment i have done surveys there. Parley Common which between Barrack Rd and the Tricketts Water Works...
