Where about in the bay was the Golden Plover Larry? Quite a rarity in Poole. Paul

Egyptian Geese 3 Egyptian Geese stopped off at Holes Bay extremely briefly for about 10 minutes this morning before heading south-east. Lots of Chiffchaff and a possible Jack Snipe at the PC World drain yesterday. Has anyone had any luck with Crossbills at Wareham Forest recently? Paul

No sign of the Ring-billed Gull then Ian? I had a look on Sunday afternoon but couldn't see it, and haven't seen anything of note at the Holes Bay roost this week either. Good to hear the Bearded Tit is still about. A flock of Siskins were at the usual place on the alders at Poole Park today...

I only saw the two Beardies. They were quite distant and flighty but fortunately one landed on the top of a reed and gave me good views. Very vocal too which i guess is probably the best way of locating them. Holes Bay is starting to come to life, although a bit miserable in the drizzle today...

Yeah, good shots Ian. Apparently, there were 3 reported on Sunday, not sure if they're all still around. Also, I manage to see the Bearded Tits at the weekend. They were seen to the right of the usual standing place where you can look over the expanse of reedbeds. Paul

Looks like it came out just as I left then! Oh well, I saw it briefly on Saturday. Does anyone know where's the best place to go at Lytchett Bay? They always seem to find interesting things there but whenever I go at the Hamworthy end I hardly see anything. Paul

Thanks Ian, yes that does make sense. I was hoping to go this week, but the weather seems to have other ideas. Chris, I'll try to get to Longham sometime soon, I guess it's fairly quiet bird-wise there at the moment? Is there anything in particular to look out for which is not so common? A...

    Dorset birding

Hey all, another newbie here. I've only been birding for the last year and I am mainly Poole-based, so my local patches are Holes Bay, Hatch Pond and Canford Heath which seem to be slightly overlooked (although they are quiet at the moment). Spring highlights have included Garganey and...
